About me.

Hey!

My musical career began when I was 10 years old. Actually, it starts sooner than that, what I mean is a more public environment. I got my first gig, a fire party at Gillet in Älmhult! Imagine getting to play for the audience and also a whole evening, great fun! Then played organ and also sang with my father Evert Johansson on guitar and friend Mikael Degerman on drums!

Soon after, I formed a band called GINNOX, we played a lot at parties and performed for the students at the school in Folkets Hus, pure Beatles atmosphere, according to Smålandsposten, haha…

I wrote my first song when I was 13 years old to my then girlfriend.

When I got a driver's license I started in a band called Bengt Lorentz from Tingsryd.

Claes Freddys is a music bunch that I played with, and that I later owned with two other members. Played professionally in Claes Freddy's 1989-90! Went around all Sweden, a useful but hard time, the gig itself wasn't that hard, but traveling was stressful. Started seriously writing songs (1988) and meanwhile I played in Claes Freddys! We made a whole tapecassette with "Just own material"! Sent my first songs to Melodifestivalen via the record company Mariann, Bert Karlsson you probably know. Was allowed to "borrow" their studio at any time!

Worked in Studio GIG in Urshult (Magnus Lundin owned it, he currently works at AMB in Tingsryd) with productions. Studio GIG played very varied music, but I produced mostly dance bands.

Started in a 2-man band called Favoriterna for a few years. Lots of Sequences and Synths!

Then started in Tom Williams. A bunch from Ronneby. Built my first midi system from scratch, with a computer 286 and a lot of synths. We had no bass player but played this via midi!

It worked amazingly well, night after night, the wonder of technology!

Jumped on the Favoriterna one more time before I put the guitar and synths on the shelf, for a while.

Started thinking about a mini format studio when my father asked the question once we were at Tivoli Bakken in Denmark. Then my father said like this: It would be a lot of fun to play with backing music sometime! Eventually bought my first Cubase system SL3 and my first sound card MI4. On that way it is ..

Have my own studio today MJ MUSIC PRODUCTION where I make my own backing music and recordings for other musicians but also for my own use. A recurring band is DUOZ from Älmhult, my father Evert Johansson and Ingmar Klyft! Do all their backing tracks that they have with them when they are playing on the dances!

Today I play myself in a one-man band that I call:

Micke J Tribute Band, the music I play is from the 50-60-70s!

Pure nostalgia .. Of course, do my own backing tracks when Micke J Tribute bands are out and about.

The music has meant a lot to me and the knowledge that I have played for thousands and thousands of dancing couples over the years has been extremely inspiring.

Yes, now you know a little more about me .. not so much more to say, more than hey then and thank you for taking the time!

/ Micke
